Redirect and expiration
What this is
Control how the redirect works (HTTP status code) and optionally set a date when the link stops working.
Before you start
- You have write access and the link is open on the Settings tab.
Steps
Redirect type
- Open a link's Settings tab.
- Find Redirect type.
- Choose a type. Most links use 302 — Temporary (recommended).
- Redirect type is not used when URL Cloak is enabled.
Expiration date
- In Settings, find Stop working after.
- Pick a date and time.
- Click Save changes.
To remove an expiration, click Remove expiration date.
What happens next
- After the expiration date, visitors cannot reach the destination. An Expired banner appears on the link detail page.
- Update or remove the date to make the link available again.
Tips
- Use 301 — Permanent only when you're sure the redirect won't change (mainly for SEO).
- Combine expiration with campaigns that have a fixed end date.
